Award winning composer, Nan Avant, has composed music for media and orchestral concert stage, Avant’s eclectic compositions encompass her passion for Classical, Contemporary, Jazz, World and Latin music, reflecting her own heritage. These diverse compositions include the award winning orchestral work Tributum, for Celtic Bagpipes and Chamber Orchestra, which premiered in the Celebrate World Music Concert and CD, a Burmer Music production. Avant’s film scores and concert work have received accolades from The Park City Film Music Festival, The Global Music Awards and Nominations in The Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2013/14 and winner of The 13th Annual Independent Music Awards, Vox Populi Award for Tributum. Avant holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Piano Performance from California Institute of the Arts and is a graduate of the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program. She is on the roster of Composers and Schools in Concert program and serves on the Board of the Seattle Composers Alliance. Her latest orchestral work, Bijoux, will premier in the concert, Origins: Life and the Universe on November 7, 2015. The concert will be performed by the celebrated Northwest Sinfonia orchestra under the direction of Grammy winner, David Sabee and is in collaboration with the University of Washington’s Dept of Astrobiology and Astronomy 50th Anniversary celebration.
