Paul Stovall is from the Seattle area. He graduated from Western Washington University where he studied piano with Jeffrey Gilliam and composition with Roger Briggs, Todd Smith, Adam Haws, Charles Halka, and Lesley Sommer. Paul also recently completed his master's degree in Film Composition at the Seattle Film Institute where Hummie Mann was his primary instructor. An advocate for new music, Paul has had the privilege of performing contemporary works including Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians as part of Western’s NowHearThis! modern music ensemble, as well as works by his composer colleagues at WWU. He has also played keyboards for numerous musicals and worked as a music intern at Village Theatre in Issaquah, WA. He is currently a graduate teaching assistant at the Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho where he is studying composition with Ruby Fulton.
