Roy Herzer
Seattle native Roy Herzer studied trumpet with Roy Cummings, head of the University of Washington trumpet studio, then theory, orchestration, and composition with Robert Panerio at Central Washington University, earning a degree in music education and holding K-12 endorsements in choral, instrumental, and general music.
Contributing as a studio musician over the years, Roy has performed as the brass section for ABC, CBS, FOX news, American Top Forty, and a long list of broadcast imaging packages worldwide. As a freelancer, Roy has arranged and conducted for recordings using members of Los Angeles Philharmonic, Northwest Sinfonia, and others.
Roy has traveled throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe as a performer and side man, and has performed as part of numerous local symphonic and chamber groups, including as principle trumpet for the Seattle Opera outreach concerts.
A published composer, Roy has written for choral and instrumental ensembles of all sizes and configurations in diverse settings such as churches, civic groups, jazz ensembles, educational, and military organizations.
