Trent Moriarty
Trent Moriarty is a composer who is best known in the video game modding community for his soundtracks of multiple popular and award-winning projects. One such project is The Forgotten City, an expansion mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The first video game mod ever to win a Writers Guild Award and amassing over 2 million downloads, the soundtrack was often praised by fans and the press. PC GAMER lauded that “You’re in good hands when it comes to the score.”
Trent showed an early interest in music, eagerly attending symphony concerts with his family. He began composing at a young age on the piano and later began studying orchestration. He cites some of his musical influences as being Howard Shore, Richard Wagner, Igor Stravinsky, Claude Debussy, Jeremy Soule, and Joe Hisaishi.
Believing that music is a language, Trent starts every project by learning about the story, tone, and characters involved so he understands what needs to be ‘translated’ into the score. Trent embraces the paradoxes inherent in the creative process, “Composition is both expression and discovery. Music is a language both articulate and mysterious.”
Outside of music, Trent is passionate about psychology and the history of art. He currently lives in Seattle, Washington.
