Ron Jones: Thinking In the Key of "O"
Orchestration in the 21st Century

The SCA is delighted to welcome Ron Jones, composer for such hit shows as Family Guy and Star Trek: The Next Generation. Ron has been composing for over 37 years, and is eager to share his experience and wisdom with a new generation of composers.

"Thinking In the Key of 'O'" involves expanding our ideas about orchestration beyond the traditional scope of the subject. Ron will give examples and talk about various ways we can improve our compositional and orchestrational skills, from reverse engineering the works of great composers like Ravel to coming up with sets of Musical Construction Materials to speed up the writing process. This is sure to be an educational and inspirational evening, so don't miss it!

When: Thursday, July 22nd, 7:30-9:30pm
Where: Soundbridge at Benaroya Hall, (at the corner of Union Street and 2nd Avenue in Downtown Seattle). There are parking garages across both streets from Soundbridge which usually cost ~$5-6.
Cost: FREE

Visit Ron Jones' website for a more complete bio and samples of his work.

The Seattle Composers Alliance...

...is a non-profit professional organization made up of working composers, students, and others interested in professional music composition. The SCA was created so that composers could gather with their peers in a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere and share knowledge, experience and information. But we also have an agenda: special forums and seminars of interest to our members; expanding Seattle's reputation as a center for musical creativity; and educational outreach to our community.
