Studio Sessions Vol. 2 Submission Deadline (20 Sep 2026)

Following the success of our recent pilot, the SCA is delighted to open registrations for the next Studio Sessions, designed to provide a cohort of music creators with the opportunity to collaborate with an arranger, record with a professional multi-instrumentalist, and learn how ideas become reality in the studio world.

Studio Sessions Volume 2 is being hosted in at Sunwave Studios, a private home studio in North Seattle engineered by Jesse Gallaway. You may recall a "Mixing Demystified" Expert Speaker Series he hosted, or heard his work as one of SCA's go-to recording engineers for our Live Sessions concert series.

Arthur Sagami will be recording saxophones (soprano, alto, tenor, bari), flute, clarinet, and bass clarinet.

Studio day: Sunday, October 18. Registration closes September 20 or when all 8 slots are filled, whichever comes first.

Last September, SCA President Seven Sky shared tools to help freelancers track their time, mileage, and finances. At this Expert Speaker Series talk, he'll be unveiling SCALE, a free, open source, locally-hosted, AI-free application to help freelancers save time and money, so they can spend more time being creative.

Beat Kitchen: Harmonic (6 Oct 2026)

The harmonic series sits at the nexus of synthesis and harmony. It touches everything from audio engineering to music theory. Join Nathan Rosenberg (Beat Kitchen) as he explains how this bedrock was behind the design of "Harmonic," an offshoot of additive synthesis he's calling "harmonic synthesis." Using the instrument itself as a hands-on visualization tool, he'll walk through how the overtone series shapes everything from mixing to sound design — and why it's the front door into synthesis, not just a theory requirement.

Studio Design: Cutting Through the Myths (2 Nov 2026)

If you’re thinking about creating a space for recording, mixing, or working with audio —whether it’s a room in an apartment, a basement, a garage, or a multi-room recording — Michael Cozzi will share a lot of practical, real-world advice for getting there without spending a fortune on the countless myths and upsells surrounding studio design and acoustics. Michael will talk about what actually matters, what doesn’t, and how you can achieve great results on a sensible budget. Join Michael in his own studio that he constructed to learn from a real example, and how the principles apply to audio spaces of almost any size or level of complexity—from improving the acoustics of a single room to designing and building a complete recording facility.

RSVPs are required for this event, and Michael will choose a handful of topics submitted via the RSVP form to focus the discussion. The address of Michael's studio will be sent upon registration.
