Nomi

Nomi is a soul and rock singer and composer with a passion for connecting intentional lyrics with unforgettable melodies. She performs and composes lead vocals for indie rock band Tigers in the Tank and performs backup and lead vocals with Sonic Funk Orchestra, a 12-piece disco funk show band. She's known for her eclectic singing, ranging from big-hearted and belty to hypnotically vulnerable. Her privilege has allowed her to travel and live all over the world, and she delights in composing songs in many languages and from many perspectives. Nomi grew up in Kitsap County, WA, contemplating the icy, submarine-infested waters of the Hood Canal and the lonely and endearing peaks of the Olympic Mountains. Her parents both hailed from the South, exposing her at a young age to a joyful and soulful (if less-than-polished) approach to singing. Her experience includes a competitive jazz ensemble, classical performance in Carnegie Hall, acting and theater tech (including musical theater), teaching voice and guitar, an a capella busking trio, and extensive experience singing and composing harmonies for alto voice. She spent four years as the open mic host and featured performer at Seattle's historic Blue Moon Tavern and has performed as a solo artist at venues, community events, and businesses all around the Pacific Northwest.
