Composer Spotlight: Marina Albero
Marina Albero is a piano and hammered dulcimer virtuoso, and a master of improvisation. Her compositions are a journey through time and space from her Barcelona hometown to Morocco, Cuba, Persia, Brazil and the U.S., encompassing early music, Flamenco, Jazz and Classical. She was honored in 2018 with a Golden Ear Awards for Emergent Artist. Her 3-CD masterpiece, “A Life Soundtrack,“ gained her two more Golden Ear Awards for Best Instrumentalist and Best Record of 2019. On March 8th 2020, she began the emergency musical project “The Quarantine Sessions” in response to the cancelations due to the COVID19 outbreak. TQS has become a source of work and income to several female artists while connecting them to new audiences in quarantine times.
