Connecting Seattle's music creators to |
SCA leadership operates on two levels:
Having Directors commit to leadership eliminates the division between those who would decide the course of the organization without being knowledgeable about the current state of member benefits, and those who put in the time and effort to provide those benefits to our members.
In other words, if you have an idea for a Program, SCA invites you to join our Board and make it a reality with our support!
SCA Committees provide various support and guardrails for our growing list of programs.
Education — Provides advice, connection to speakers, and more to programs such as Expert Speaker Series and Feedback Forum
Finance — Assists the Treasurer in keeping SCA's finances organized, and receives/proposes changes to program budgets
Marketing — Ensures that SCA members and the general public are aware of our events and goings-on
Membership — Keeps a finger on the pulse for what members need, and is often a point of contact for the org
Operations — Manages the backend organization of the organization and provides technical support/tools for success
Thanks to the support Committees provide, our Program leaders are able to focus on creating and managing the most exciting and impactful programs for our community. Click here for a list of active programs!
The SCA Board of Directors is advised by our Advisory Panel, composed of a spectrum of passionate local music creator advocates, just like our Board. Advisors are able to attend our monthly Board Meetings and weigh in on topics in which they feel knowledgeable and/or passionate. Advisors are able to participate in Board Meetings as much or as little as they wish, and have no obligations. The Advisory Panel ensures SCA is:
In addition, becoming an Advisor and attending a Board Meeting is one of the first steps one must take to become eligible for Directorship.
How do I become an Advisor? Simply ask a current Director or Officer and express your interest! They will give you a short form to fill out and your status as Advisor will be granted for one year (12 months).
Becoming a Director of the SCA is meant to be accessible. Our Alliance of Seattle Composers is only as strong as its leaders within, and we encourage all to deepen their ties with the community while strengthening our benefits by becoming an SCA Director. To do so, these steps must be taken (in any order):
After completing these steps, and during the next three Board Meetings, a prospective Director can be officially sworn in. Directors commit to leading a Committee or Program, so as part of their appointment, and with Board approval, they will also be elected to leadership of their chosen Committee or Program.
