The SCA is excited to announce Reading Sessions, an educational workshop for SCA members to receive live invaluable feedback from a variety of professional musicians and ensembles! For this inaugural session, ten composers will get the opportunity to have a piece read by the Veridian Winds wind ensemble. Veridian Winds is a young collective of skilled and versatile musicians who’ve built a reputation for creative playing and programming with their appearances in regional chamber music festivals, competitions, and self-produced performances. The ensemble’s instrumentation is that of a traditional wind quintet so participants will be writing for flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and/or bassoon.
As this is a reading, all pieces will be sight-read day-of, and constructively critiqued on the elements of playability, range considerations, notation, etc. The event will take place at Music Works Northwest on Saturday, September 21st, 2024 from 2-5pm. If you’re interested in attending as a participant (only ten slots available!), fill out the RSVP form here (deadline: September 7th). In addition, the Reading Session will be open for all SCA members to sit in as spectators. This event is FREE for both participants and spectators.
